Catherine House, MFT
Catherine House is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 28 years experience working with adults, children, adolescents, couples and families.
Catherine has experience facilitating group therapy. She ran an ongoing group for women working on abuse issues. She found it helpful for her clients to work together, changing their roles as victims to become strong women, able to set clear boundaries and make good decisions. She has also run two groups for teens working on relationship problems with parents and peers. In addition, Catherine ran a men's group for three years for men working on resolving issues with parents, siblings, spouses and work.
Catherine specifically enjoys working with people who are depressed. She believes the root of depression is sadness and anger and works with the client to get to the root of the problem in order to work through those feelings. She accomplishes this through various exercises, which have been amazingly helpful for many individuals.
Another specialty of Catherine's is working with children. She has attended many seminars to assist with her grow in this area. Her office is filled with toys and games. She also uses art to help children work through their feelings.
Catherine also knows the great satisfaction of resolving issues between mothers and daughters. She uses her own healing experience and encourages daughters to do an oral history with their mothers, and finds the healing results from this exercise to be limitless.
Catherine's life experiences, including marriage for 61 years, raising five children, enjoying her ten grandchildren, having a business of her own, returning to school after raising her children, along with her education and clinical experience, all contribute to her helping couples with marriage problems, helping families with their struggles, and helping individuals of all ages who are desiring to make changes in their lives.
Catherine accepts the following insurance: APS Healthcare, Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Holman, Optum, United Healthcare, Value Options and Victim Witness.
