Becca Cox is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Clinical Counselor who has been with Hope Counseling Center since 2017. She has more than a decade of experience working with children and families. Born and raised in Northern California, Becca moved to Santa Barbara to attend Westmont College and liked it here so much she decided to stay. Becca graduated from Azusa Pacific University with her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and was honored with an award for distinguished professionalism.
Becca enjoys working with individuals, children, adolescents, couples, and families. Becca volunteered for many years at a clinic that serves survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and has worked with people of varying ages and backgrounds as they recover from intense trauma. In addition, Becca has experience working in intensive treatment programs with clients who suffer from a broad range of eating disorders and dual diagnosis. Working with clients who suffer from depression, anxiety, acute trauma, loss, transition, and familial relationship issues are also areas close to Becca’s heart.
Since becoming a therapist Becca has facilitated many support groups including groups for eating disorders, anger management, and survivors of domestic violence. Additionally, she has completed level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Becca also utilizes a variety of techniques, including play therapy, to assist children who are acting out and having difficulty expressing their emotions in healthy ways.
When not practicing therapy, Becca can be found walking around the many beautiful locations in Santa Barbara with her family and little fluffy dog or shopping at Target. Becca also enjoys traveling the world and experiencing diverse cultures, both domestic and abroad.
